I specialize in couples therapy using Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). EFT helps couples understand what is happening in the relationship and the common patterns they get stuck in. Most couples find them selves stuck having the same conversation over and over with no resolve.
EFT is based on the view that human beings are innately relational, social and wired for intimate bonding with others. In fact, as Sue Johnson says in her book, Love Sense, "we need emotional connection to survive." We now know what love is, how it goes wrong and how to shape it into a secure lasting bond. I come along side a couple and help them understand what went wrong and to begin to shape it and develop a secure attachment. Research studies on EFT find that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and about 90% show significant improvements.
